Marielle: I was in London yesterday.
Lucia: Oh, how was it?
Marielle: I had a great time, but the weather wasn’t so good.
Lucia: We were in the country — it was nice and sunny.
Stephan: Yes, we had a picnic with Mr and Mrs Young. We were home very late.
Marielle: Why was it so late?
Akiro: We were on our way home in the car and suddenly there wasn’t any petrol left in the tank.
Lucia: So we were stuck in the middle of the countryside. And it was quite dark.
Marielle: Were you scared?
Stephan: Of course we weren’t!
Akiro: Mr Young was very upset because it was his fault.
Lucia: And he had a long walk to the garage!
Stephan: There wasn’t anything to drink in the car.
Lucia: Oh, but there was still something to eat.
Stephan: Just a few biscuits and a bit of cheese.
Lucia: Well, I was very full after the huge picnic.
Akiro: Anyway, we had lots of fun — and an excellent English lesson.
Stephan: Yes, Mrs Young was a brilliant story-teller. Her ghost stories were very exciting.
Lucia: And scary!
Marielle: So you were scared!
Lucia: Well, just a little bit.
