An English dialogue in a London restaurant.
Friends are having lunch in a London restaurant.
Waiter: Are you ready to order?
Mr Young: Yes. Stephan?
Stephan: I’d like steak and chips, please.
Waiter: How would you like your steak?
Stephan: Um, well done, please.
Akiro: The grilled salmon for me, please.
Lucia: And I’ll have a large mixed salad with Italian dressing.
Mrs Young: Is that all?
Lucia: Yes, I’m trying hard to lose weight.
Mrs Young: Hm, perhaps I should have the vegetarian dish.
Mr Young: And I’ll take the roast beef. I feel quite hungry after that boat trip down the Thames.
Waiter: What would you like to drink?
Mr Young: Could I have a look at the wine list, please? We’ve got something special to celebrate.
Mrs Young: So, what do you all want to do after lunch?
Akiro: I’d like to go to Madame Tussaud’s.
Lucia: How about the National Gallery?
Stephan: Or the London Dungeon?
Mr Young: Well, we can’t do everything, so let’s do a bus tour of London first, and then we’ll see.
Mrs Young: Okay. Some more coffee anybody? Nobody?
Mr Young: Let’s pay, then. Could we have the bill, please?
Lucia: Excuse me, where’s the ladies?
Waiter: Downstairs in the basement, Madam.
Stephan: Where’s Lucia?
Mrs Young: She’s gone to spend a penny.
Stephan: Spend a penny? What can you buy for a penny?
Mrs Young: That’s just an expression, Stephan! Can’t you guess where she’s gone?
